Every day, lax password security causes untold damage to the data and systems of companies throughout the world. By their very nature i.e. being something easy to remember or personal to the user, they are a prime target for hackers. Passwords are often set to common words, phrases, or patterns and then used across many systems and sites which whilst helpful to the user, it is even more helpful to the person trying to steal valuable data. This white-paper sets out some do's and don'ts for the creation of more secure passwords.
